Hertha-Berlin could face heavy fines from the German Football Association
A German football club has condemned a fan who displayed an extra-large homophobic banner at a football match at the weekend.
The banner, approximately 150 feet long (45 meters), read: ‘WH96: Rather a mother than two fathers!’
Hertha Berlin, who’s fans displayed the banner during the match against Cologne, will be investigated by the German Football Association.
It may result in heavy fines.
In a tweet to fans, Hertha posted: ‘Leave out the stupidity! Hertha Berlin has always distanced itself from every form of discrimination’.
Hertha-Junxx, the football team’s gay fan group, often shows banners at games that include ‘Football is everything – even gay!’
