He also showed off some revealing battle scars
Olympian skiier Gus Kenworthy stopped by The Ellen Show to discuss everything from posing naked to Vice President Mike Pence.
The freestyle skiier landed a spot on Team USA in January.
First they discussed Kenworthy appearing in ESPN’s Body Issue — completely naked. As Ellen brings up a photo, the crowd goes wild and Kenworthy blushes into his hand.
‘Is it better to ski naked?’ Ellen asks.
Kenworthy has a great response: ‘Alpine skiiers ski in a skinsuit, and that’s what I was doing too.’
They shot the photos in Mammoth, California in spring. Kenworthy says he was expecting slushy snow and sunshine, but it turned out to be freezing.
Here are some photos from that shoot. They are all NSFW.
They also talked about his Head & Shoulders ad, where he expressed pride in being a gay athlete.
He’s excited to karaoke in South Korea
Kenworthy talked about a number of other things with Ellen. Like being a huge fan of hers. He even said he was more nervous to do this show than his upcoming competition.
She also asks him what he’s most looking forward to and he said karaoke (he sings Rhythm of Love by Plain White T’s).
However, we all know it’s really the other athletes.
Then she shows a clip of Kenworthy crashing during one his trial runs. It’s not pretty. Accompanied with the video is a photo of one of his battle scars, a massive bruise on his thigh.
Finally, they discuss Vice President Pence being chosen as the Leader of the US Delegation at the Olympics.
‘It just seems like a strange choice,’ Kenworthy explains. ‘We’re in 2018, we’re going to the Olympics, and myself and Adam Rippon are the first two openly gay males competing in the Olympics. It’s incredible to see how times have changed… But then, to have someone leading the delegation that’s directly attacked the LGBT community, it seems like a bad fit. The Olympics is all about inclusion, people coming together.’
Rippon also called out Pence.
The Winter Olympics begin on Friday (9 February) in PyeongChang, South Korea.
