Tom Daley is making the most of his first-ever visit to New York City.
The British Olympic diver and fiancee Dustin Lance Black, an Oscar-winning screenwriter, took in the Statue of Liberty on Monday (7 November) and turned it into an opportunity to make a political statement.
With the real Liberty in the background, Daley is wearing one of those cheesy Liberty foam crowns with Black biting on one of the tips.
In the caption on his Instagram account, LGBT activist Black wrote: ‘Enjoy your #Liberty! Wake up early tomorrow morning and go #VOTE!’
The pair have also paid visits to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at World Trade Center and to the Stonewall Inn which was at the epicenter of the riots that launched the modern-day LGBT rights movement.
Black’s upcoming ABC miniseries When We Rise tells the story of that movement from the 1969 Stonewall Riots up until today.
